Tripartite Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Islamic Republic of Iran

 In response to the positive initiative of President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China on China's support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop good-neighborly and friendly relations, according to the agreement reached by President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Iran on China's hosting and supporting the talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran Consensus, in order to resolve their differences through dialogue and diplomacy within the framework of fraternal relations, to abide by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as international regulations and practices, the Saudi Minister of State, cabinet members, National Security Adviser Musaid bin Mohammad Alban and Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani respectively led Saudi and Iranian delegations to hold talks in Beijing from March 6 to 10, 2023.


The Saudis and Iraqi sides appreciate and thank the Republic of Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman for hosting multiple rounds of dialogue between 2021 and 2022. Both sides appreciate and thank the Chinese leaders and government for hosting and supporting the talks and promoting their success. The three countries announced that Saudi Arabia and Iran have reached an agreement, including agreeing to restore diplomatic relations between the two sides, reopening embassies and representative offices of the two sides within at most two months; emphasizing respect for the sovereignty of each country and not interfering in the internal affairs of other countries; the two sides agreed to hold a meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries , start the above-mentioned work, arrange for the exchange of ambassadors, and explore the strengthening of bilateral relations. The two sides agreed to activate the security cooperation agreement signed by the two countries on April 17, 2001 (January 22, 1422 Hijri) and the economic, General agreement in the fields of trade, investment, technology, science, culture, sports and youth. The three countries expressed their willingness to make every effort to strengthen international and regional peace and security.
